Tom Caraher - BIO

Tom is a multi-instrumentalist who grew up in a house filled with music. While still in grade school, Tom was playing both organ and guitar for worship services. After several years of accordion lessons, Tom wanted to play other instruments and start a rock band. In high school, Tom joined the school band and drumline while continuing to play bass and eventually guitar, piano, and organ in several rock bands. Eventually, Tom studied music theory and voice at Western Illinois University while continuing to perform as a solo and group artist. He has sung with many choirs and choruses including the Farmington Valley Chorus. Tom has also performed several seasons with the West Hartford Symphony and served as President for three seasons. During the pandemic, Tom focused on digital music and video production collaborating with artists from Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. Tom has written and produced over 100 music videos and been viewed on YouTube over 20,000 times.

My Approach to Teaching

I enjoy working with students of all ages and love to help musicians grow in both ability and confidence. As a performing musician, I focus guitar instruction on what to play and how the instrument fits within the performance. Achieving individual student goals is the driving approach to my instruction.
