Barbara Lewis - BIO

Barbara Lewis is an award-winning professional vocalist, voiceover artist and music educator who has shared her passion for music with countless musicians over the span of her 30 + year professional career. She specializes in popular, jazz, and music theater styles of voice lessons, and beginning and intermediate clarinet lessons. A graduate of the acclaimed Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, Barbara earned her Bachelor’s of Music degree in Studio Music and Jazz Vocals. She relocated to Los Angeles, where she worked for many years as a studio and live vocalist before moving to Connecticut.

Barbara has been on the faculty at the Hartford Conservatory, serving as the director of the Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Music Theatre Vocal Coach and Voiceover Coach. She taught Jazz Voice at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School, and was a music educator in the Bloomfield Public Schools for over 10 years. While Mrs. Lewis is experienced in teaching students of any age, she especially enjoys nurturing and growing the young voice and teaching young singers how to properly use and care for their voices. Barbara lives in Avon CT with her husband, two young adult children, her Scotty dog Miss Penny, and their cat Moe.

My Approach to Teaching

I enjoy meeting every student where they are, and helping them to figure out where they want to go. Then, we make a plan together to get there!
