MICHAEL FALCETTIMusical Achievements: Michael's lifelong interest in music began taking shape when at age 5 he began learning how to play the accordion. His passion has been teaching students from preschoolers to over 100 year of age the joy of learning to play music. Michael has served as Conductor and Director of the Springfield Accordion and Guitar Orchestra since 1993, and past President, Secretary, and Treasurer or the Accordion Teacher's Association of Massachusetts. He also teaches preschool – 8th grade levels of music at St. John's School in Ludlow.Approach to Teaching: "Being a musician and music teacher has enhanced my life in so many ways. I feel I'm a much better person overall because of the role music has had in my life, my student' lives and my family's lives. YEVA ALPIN
Musical Achievements: Yeva has been teaching here since 19 She began lessons at age 6 and performed classical piano pieces in competitions and winning awards from a young age. She graduated from music college and began teaching piano at 19. Approach to Teaching: "I teach all of my students to appreciate different music genres. There are many great traditions of my Russian music school background that are my strength and foundation to teaching. Playing an instrument does not always come easily. The talent is nurtured through consistent daily practice, dedication, diligence, and discipline. I was so fortunate to have inspiring teachers work with me and in turn, I look forward to being your guide." The Impact of Music: "Music is my life. It's my livelihood and a major source of enjoyment. I love to pass on my many years of experience to my students. It has been extremely rewarding to work with many talented pupils who have grown to enjoy playing and competing successfully." |
CAROL ADAMSKI-MAGGI
Approach to Teaching: "I have a positive attitude and try to make my students feel welcome and at ease. I've been described as having a pleasant way of instructing my students, resulting in them understanding what I say. My strengths include being patient, thorough, and observant. I combine instinct with musical knowledge in the teaching process. I help my students to relax and smile while learning. When I teach I speak from lots of experience as a performer who knows first hand what it's like to be in front of an audience. I go beyond reading notes to emphasize how important interpretation is in music." The Impact of Music: "Music has brought so much joy into my life. Whether singing or playing an instrument, I feel more uplifted and alive. Music to me isn't a solitary past-time, but one that needs to be shared. ANGIE KIBBE
Classical, Pop Musical Achievements: Angie earned a degree in Music Education, Piano, and Clarinet from Westfield State College. She has taught piano and clarinet since 1992, as well as preschool and kindergarten general music at Trinity Preschool. She enjoys participating in church music programs and playing at nursing and retirement homes and cafes. Angie has a special affinity for teaching children with various learning challenges.Approach to Teaching: "I work with my students to become well rounded musicians and to find joy in playing the piano. I pay close attention to each student's learning style and individual abilities to find the best ways to teach each one. I believe that proper piano technique is very important to the end result. A good understanding of music theory, note reading and rhythm ultimately leads students to experience more enjoyment from playing. I also believe that every child, including those with developmental disabilities can greatly benefit from learning to play music. I'm known as a patient and encouraging instructor and I really enjoy helping children with special needs to open their worlds to music". The impact of Music: "Music has always been a big part of my life. I have fond memories of singing with my mother as a child and listening to my father play guitar. Still family gatherings are always so much fun when we sing and play instruments together. Music is a great form of self expression and creativity for me. It is both my favorite hobby and my career. And I love teaching music to others!" |
LUCY PORTNOV
Musical Achievements: Lucy began playing piano since age 3 and has never stopped. She has been a professional instructor here since 1992. Having graduated from a music school for gifted children, Lucy completed a Bachelor's degree in piano teaching/accompaniment, and Master's degree in piano teaching. She then taught at a school for musically gifted children and pedagogical institute. She's also been involved in making classical music radio and television programs. Approach to Teaching: "A good pianist will make audiences tap their feet, dance in their seats, and carry their imaginations to a different place through a musical story. I try to inspire my students to find and hone this creative ability inside of them. I am involved with many concerts and program recitals with my students. I hope for my students to understand how much the music skills they develop will help them for the rest of their lives." The Impact of Music: "I was born into a musical family. My mother was a musician. I cannot imagine myself without music. It has been such a major part of my life." |
PAUL PULASKI
Musical Achievements: Began to study at age 6. Initially took classical piano instruction, then jazz, blues, and most recently, baroque music. Currently involved in performing piano compositions on acoustic piano and a variety of digital keyboard instruments. Skilled in providing extensive instruction in elementary music theory, pop, classical, jazz, and blues forms of piano. Approach to Teaching: "Music has allowed me to mentor students, capitalizing on both the strengths and developmental opportunities. I assess each student to determine his or her individual capacity and needs, then I tailor my instruction and encouragement to help him or her. My advice to students is: Don't let any perceived limitation, or even a physical handicap, deter you from making music an integral part of your life! Playing music can provide great enjoyment and relaxation, no matter what level you're playing at." The Impact of Music: Music has taught me to recognize the innate talent in people and the great joy of sharing the possibilities of playing. I perform at various charity events and private parties on both piano and harpsichord and really enjoy connecting with people through playing music. |
BEVERLY WORDSWORTH
Classical, Pop, Jazz Musical Achievements: Soloist in high school and college choirs and member South Jersey chorus. Studied music and voice in college. Graduate work in psychology and education. Was an Organist for 5 years. Choral Director in NJ, PA, CT. Past Music Chair Christian Women's Club, NY and Music Chair in CT. Member of Adirondack Choral and Wilbraham Chorus. Have subbed in music for several school systems from preschool to college levels. Taught first piano lesson at age 13 – 50th anniversary of Falcetti Music in 2007!
